National Day of the Honey Bee—Grade One Style

May 29th has been declared “The Day of the Honeybee,” initiated by Saskatoon-native Clinton Shane Ekdahl to raise awareness about the plight of the honeybee and how closely we humans are dependent upon these little creatures for our survival.

A couple of years ago, at the end of May, I visited Don Cameron’s honey bee apiary on Westham Island in Delta, BC with my son Dylan–then in Grade One. He gave us a fabulous tour of his honey bee hives. See the link below to see the video on my website.
